September 2014

Linking Handlebars has kept busy this summer distributing bicycles and helmets to children in both White Plains and Port Chester, along with attending some fundraiser events.
On July 23, we held our second summer distribution with 18 children from Ward Summer Camp. The children who recieved bicycles were those who participated in Ward's annual walkathon which raises money to bus the campers on a field trip.
On August 31, we joined the Westchester Cycle Club at the Golden Apple event, which represents the culmination of the cycling season, by challenging riders to bike through the beautiful country roads of Somers, NY. The WCC members made generous monetary donations and won some raffle prizes.
On October 25, we plan to join with Miller's in Mamaroneck and Bikes4Kids to do a 200 bicycle distribution. We need all the help we can get!!

Check out these links to see what we have been up to:

This year, we have provided bicycles for 98 children. Our goal is to distribute at least 22 more bicycles in 2014 for a grand total of 120!
We are gearing up for more, but we NEED your help!
  • $20 can provide one helmet
  • $30 can repair one bicycle
  • $75 can purchase a new child’s bicycle
  • $100 can purchase a new teen bicycle
A donation of a gently used bicycle is also welcome.
Donations can be mailed to PO Box 75, Rye, NY 10580 or by going to Make a Donation.
Linking Handlebars is a not-for profit organization committed to promoting healthier lifestyles for children in need through the gift of a bicycle. We collect gently used bicycles and cash donations to purchase new bicycles and helmets and to refurbish used bicycles. We provide children the opportunity to experience all the benefits of cycling including exercise, transportation, and enjoyment of the great outdoors.
